The recently re-ignited feud between art-rockers Sonic Youth and “recordist” Steve Albini has increased thanks to a new salvo sent towards Albini from Sonic Youth leader, Kim Gordon, in response to comments Albini made in GQ magazine accusing the group of “selling out”.
“I can no longer stand idly by and allow Mr. Albini, a man whom has strong ties to witchcraft and the occult, to continue to insult the Sonic Youth Organization.”, says Kim Gordon via a press release sent to KGRA’s offices. “Sonic Youth is a musical combo that celebrates people of all creeds, colors and nationalities, but that celebration does not extend to people who consort with the Devil and his minions. I call for everyone to take a close look and see Mr. Albini for what he is –a conjurer and agent of Lucifer.”
Gordon also included several examples with the press release in which she illustrates her belief that Steve Albini is a Warlock (a male witch). Here are a few of her claims.
1. Steve Albini creates his famous “drum sound” by placing vintage Coles condenser microphones in a pentagram around the drums, thereby creating a portal to Hell, and allowing demons to emerge from it.
2. She claims to have a testimonial from singer Evan Dando that Albini once took on the form of record producer Tony Visconti in order to confuse and harass Dando. He also took on the form of a personal assistant of noted occultist, Madonna Ciccone in order to mock him.
3. “I’ve always regarded Steve Albini as semi-evil”
Mr. Albini was unavailable to comment as he is attending “The Steve Lukather Saucy Guitar Jam” all this week.
KGRA will stay on top of this story as it develops.
